Walk In the Woods

In a city of constant change, what could be more grounding than the very earth beneath our feet? Somehow through all the booms and the busts, Golden Gate Park has seemingly been at the center of the action. While the park has seen neighbors come and go, including Playland at the Beach, Sutro Baths and the first two iterations of the Cliff House, it’s played a huge role for generations of San Franciscans. Peaceniks and freedom seekers found it as the centerpiece of the Summer of Love, countless 60’s “be ins,” protests, rock concerts and more.

Today it’s still a haven for music festivals, sporting events, anglers, and people simply looking to kick off their shoes and relax awhile. Explore the woods and meadows and see what’s helped ground the generations pouring into the city.
